This Privacy Policy explains how elara ("elara", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the elara mobile application (the "App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Profile information you provide during onboarding: your display name, age, native language, and the language you are learning.
Camera and microphone data used during live video practice sessions. Live video and audio are transmitted to connect you with a conversation partner. We do not record or store your live sessions.
Usage and device information: app interactions, session length, streaks, approximate performance metrics, device model, operating system version, language/region settings, and a device identifier used for analytics and attribution.
Push notification token, if you enable notifications, so we can send you reminders and match alerts.

2. How We Use Your Information

To create your profile and match you with suitable language-practice partners.
To operate live video sessions and core App features.
To measure feature usage, improve the App, and diagnose crashes.
To send you notifications you have opted into.
To attribute installs and measure the performance of our marketing.

3. Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party SDKs that may process limited data on our behalf:

Google Firebase — analytics and crash reporting.
Adjust — install attribution and marketing analytics.
Meta (Facebook SDK) — attribution and advertising measurement.

Each provider processes data under its own privacy policy. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers listed above, when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the App.

5. Data Retention

We keep your profile information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time (see "Your Rights" below). Live video and audio are not retained after a session ends.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your region (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@elara.app.

Delete your data

To request deletion of your account and associated data, email support@elara.app from the address associated with your account, or use the in-app support link. We will process verified requests within 30 days.

7. Children's Privacy

elara is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated in the App.
